Reporting Usability

As a driver, it is difficult to drive and enter text to describe the different reports. As a driver in CA it is illegal to text. The reporting tool needs to be easier to use. Granted it is relatively easy but not very descriptive is the easier method. Select Report -> Select Report Type -> Save. However if you can program in 6 or 9 (3x2 or 3x3 grid) of the most common replies for each report type, it would be easier for drivers to select them. Also allow this to be multi-selectable. Also have an area for text entries as an option for the non drivers (passenger navigators to enter if need be).

i.e.
Driver sees an accident

Press Report
Press Accident
Press description/comment, and a 3x3 grid of possible replies shows up
Press “multi car”, “covering left lanes”, “covering center divide”.
Press Save.

Good suggestions. We are still trying to figure out the best UI for the reporting tool and we will be tweaking it according to users’ feedback.

Adding the most common replies list is on our todo list so we will add it.
On way to use the tool is to mark the type of event and then push the hide button. Waze will remember the location of the event and you can then fill the details later on when you are not in the move. We should add an auto hide feature to save one click using a timeout…

In any case the comment is optional so you can just submit an alert without it.
