This request is for a specialty gate to be identified, located at the corner of Montgomery Drive and Sweet Magnolia Drive SW. This is a gated, unstaffed guard shack that is for resident only access using their vehicle transponders affixed to windshield. I am requesting that a routing penalty be placed on this street since it leads into a limited access community to allow the GPS routing to be sent to the main entrance of the community before routing to an address within the community. Our Cresswind Community main entrance is currently shown as “Visitor Gate - Cresswind” as the preferred routing point. This should be the entry point to the community instead of routing to an unmanned resident only closed gate.
Thanks,

Waze is unable to differentiate from a visitor or a resident. Waze is mapped for commuters and we must consider all routes for a community’s residents. In the future we hope to have a solution for the resident vs visitor routing.
Waze will always pick the one that is the fastest. We are unable to tell Waze “don’t pick this one”, as it’s programmed to get you somewhere fastest. Please keep in mind waze cannot tell if the driver is a guest or a resident. Also consider there are some guests that you want to arrive via the fastest possible route – emergency responders. So, we cannot legally block a road that is open to public use.
Alternatively, If you have a community website you can list the names of the guest entrances that we have created for you there. You can broadcast to your community to increase the awareness of these new places that are designed to route guests to the correct entrances.
