Hello!
I have been working on tidying up the Gastonia area, and I have come across an area that seems to have been made just to stump me. ![]()
Please see: This location
I have consulted Gaston County GIS for the street names, but there are discrepancies. For example, according to GIS, Power Dr becomes Saxony Dr north of the railroad tracks until intersecting Lineberger St. However, just east of that point is a school which gives its own address as 1500 Power Drive. That means someone using Waze to find the school will be looking for Power Dr, not Saxony Dr. For the moment, I have left the street named âPower Drâ and given âSaxony Drâ as the alternate name.
The only street sign Iâve been able to find is just north of the tracks, and points to Saxony Dr continuing eastward where GIS shows an unnamed road. ![]()
Further, âSaxony Rd Extâ is also not on GIS. Google Maps has it as âSaxony Rd Exdâ â which is how it was previously named, so I suspect the previous editor just grabbed it from there. From street view, Iâm guessing itâs a private road belonging to the Pharr complex, although it isnât gated.
I do know that in case of posted sign vs GIS, the sign wins. What if there is no sign?
To avoid second-guessing myself and cluttering the chat, as this isnât an urgent matter, Iâd like some guidance on resolving these conflicts. I want to find out how to fix these on my own! ![]()
Thank you for reading, and for any advice.
