Rideshare, delivery drivers, etc. being misrouted

I’m having a recurrence of an old problem where drivers are approaching my address from the wrong direction and then turning down the wrong street.

This is Martin St. Philadelphia PA 19146. In the map editor it is segment 41764911 and is correctly shown as a northbound one-way street. You should approach it by turning right from Catharine St., segment 41750698, but instead the drivers are directed to Fitzwater St., segment 41774731. When they realize they can’t turn left onto Martin, they try Harshaw St., segment 41761853.

I’m trying anything and everything to fix this because my elderly parents visit often and can’t easily access the Harshaw St side. I often see the drivers using Waze so I’m hoping this could be a way to fix it. Thanks.

What is the address here that needs fixed?

My address is 754 Martin, but it seems to happen to others on the street as well.

I notice that Waze has the Street named “S Martin St” not “Martin St”. I see that Philadelphia GIS has it listed under both names. I have added an Alternate name of Martin St. If you were previously entering Martin St and not “S Martin St”, then you were getting a Google Maps result fed to Waze. Additionally, if you include the Zip Code in an address search, you also get the Google Maps result NOT the Waze result. Waze does not recognize zip codes and thus passes the request off to Google Maps for resolution. Give the changes a few days to take effect and then you MUST delete previous searches for this address including HOME if you have it set from the Waze App. In 2 days, delete this address from Waze history and try searching for it again by typing it into Waze. Let us know if it works correctly . Thank you. This is what I get when using Waze ti find your house

Finally, alot of these rideshares employ their own routing app that passes a PIN POINT to Waze in the form of a Latitude/Longitude. Waze then tries to find the closest Waze segment to that pinpoint. Waze is NOT provided the actual address to make its own determination of the best route. Had the driver actually entered the address directly into Waze it most likely would have routed correctly.

Thank you so much for your action and explanation! I didn’t understand at all how these systems might interact so I was never going to have much luck troubleshooting it myself. You’re exactly right that there is some confusion about whether it is Martin or South Martin (technically it should be the latter, the way addresses work here, but there is no North Martin so even the PO sometimes resolve it as plain Martin). I hope you have a great weekend.
