Road marked closed in error

There is a stretch of S. Santa Fe Street in downtown Los Angeles (where Santa Fe St. forks off from Molino just after passing under the 4th Street bridge) that is showing on Waze as closed all the way to Palmetto Street. It is not actually closed. It has just been changed to one-way south from Molino to Palmetto until a road construction project is completed that has one lane closed for an extended period.

The way we often make roads one way for construction is to set a one way closure like we have here. Waze has the road closed one way only from Palmetto St to Mateo St. Waze has not closed the other direction of flow from Mateo St to Palmetto St. I hope that helps explain how the closures work in Waze. Do you know when two way traffic will resume here?

Thanks.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense, although at a glance it still appears like a closed road on the map. There is no posted timetable for it reopening completely. it’s been one-way for months now, and with a lot of related construction projects happening in the area, it seems like it will be a while.

It does appear as a closed road because Waze doesn’t have a way to indicate directional closures. With that said, it will route through in the open direction.
