I live in Chesterfield and go to Roanoke College. I always take 360 to 460 to get there instead of 64 to 81 as it is 30 miles shorter and very similar amount of time. Recently however, waze does not give me the option to take that route despite it being arguably better and it used to give me the option, now it only gives me 81 as an option. Why is this, can it be fixed?
There is a bug that the developers are working on. I did try and received the same results that you did. Even if I used routes only one route was found on I-81.
Till then recommend getting the routing and then do another search for some place that is along the 360 to 460 route and then add it as a stop. We apologize for the inconvenience.
Yes that’s what I’ve done, thank you!
I have been getting similar issues in metro Detroit. My drive to the office is about 45 minutes from Livonia to Auburn Hills and Waze is consistently sending me on an all highway route the that is 15 miles longer and up to 10 minutes more time. Waze routes me from 275 to 696 to 75. The shorter and faster route is 275 to 696 to Telegraph Rd to Square Lake Road to 75. Telegraph and Square Lake are both major boulevards with 50MPH speed limits and well timed lights. Even if it is the same time, the 15 mile shorter distance is preferable. If I ask for an alternate route, this one only shows partially and Waze will route me on a 2-lane residential road, parallel to Telegraph with a 25 to 40mph speed limit with schools on the route. It’s very frustrating since Waze used to be the best with the real time traffic updates and automatic re-routing due to building traffic or accidents.
I posted the problem to the Michigan editors.
Note when I route from a generic place in Livonia to Auburn Hills, I get three routes:
41 min 38.1 miles I-96 E, to I-75 N
40 min 31.5 miles M-39 N, Telegraph Rd
42 min, 29.7 miles M-39 N, Lahser Rd.
Based on your comment above I assume you have tried routes.
Have you tried the approach of adding a stop along your preferred route?
