I live in NC in the US. When I hit Royalty Wazer, I was ranked 157,000. As the Waze app states, when you achieve Royalty rank, that means you are in the top 1% of Wazers in your state. Problem is NC has a total population of about 10.5 million people, including children and non-Wazers. The math clearly doesn’t add up. What am I missing here?

No, the 57K is only for the state of NC. I’m like 3 million and change globally.
People are always traveling in and out of state, so it is hard to say how many active users are in your state at one time. But it seems like you’re getting close to Royalty, so I would not worry too much about it. You will get there soon
