Saw WAZE.COM on BBC Click

And decided this was what my new Blackberry needed… only to discover that the app isn’t ready yet. So, had to setup my using my old WinMob phone with its duff battery.

Not too much activity on the Live Map, which isn’t too surprising as its Sunday lunchtime here in the UK. Won’t be able to contribute until tomorrow myself.

That’s the same reason I’ve got involved. Have managed to add one road heading to Sainsbury’s yesterday, but tomorrow driving Leeds to Stansted. The airport still looks empty to me, as well as some of my routes around Leeds.

Ditto. Just saw the gorgeous Kate talking about Waze. Went online, grabbed the app for my iPhone and have just registered. Hopefully lots of people will get involved and help make this a really useful service for drivers in the UK. Time to put my town on the map!

Yeh likewise. I’m in Liverpool - going to log all my trips now & get as much as poss mapped. Hope to “see you on the map”. Pete

Welcome to all of our new UK Wazers!!!

We have really grown in numbers over the last few weeks, so if you don’t yet see anyone in your neighbourhood, watch this space… You may find that simply being online attracts other users to your area, and certainly when it comes to adding roads to the map, “If you build it, they will come…”

Starting off and just want to see what Waze is about? Just drive around and if you’re on a road that’s not in the database, hit the “record” button. You might even find that none of your town is mapped yet, so record like crazy!

Then, in 24-48 hours, you’ll find that you can “add” the roads you drove the previous day by going to the world.waze.com website and clicking on “update map”. You’ll see a window called “archive” which will list the roads you drove on various days. Find a suitable day, click on the route and you’ll see your new roads show up on the map. Then all you need to do is click on a road segment and give it a name, and if you feel like it, add a city name, or tell Waze if it’s a one-way or two-way road. You can also classify the road… there’s info in the Wiki about how we do that here in the UK too (although the brief version is:

Freeway = Proper Motorway
Major Highway = Any dual-carriageway that’s not speed restricted or has lots of cross streets.
Minor Highway = A roads that -aren’t- dual carriageway
Primary Streets = B roads and other roads that carry lots of traffic.
Streets = I think you get it by now.

Feel free to send me a private message via this forum if you need any help at all, or want me to take a look at something you’ve done…

Hi there,
Started driving yesterday myself after seeing waze on the BBC.
2 small routes from yesterday have appeared so far although I can’t seem to edit them.
Cartouche just doesn’t seem to work. It’s so slow and always seems to default to somewhere in Holland when I click on the routes from my archive.
Infact taking a look, the latitude looks good but longitude is way out.
My routes don’t look like they’re appearing where they should.

Any ideas?

Also I noticed there’s a beta available for windows mobile that i’m using.
It doesn’t say anything about the beta, should we be using that or just sticking to release software?

Thanks for any info

Also just noticed that my routes i think are from yesterday are down as happening today…

Yip I saw Click as well and thought I would give it a try. Im Belfast - Carrickfergus way and there is very little on the map yet so will try and update it as much as I can.
