[Script] WME GIS Buttons

I’ve created a script that makes it easier to open the correct GIS website for whatever location you are looking at in WME. It takes the coordinates of the center of the visible map, reverse geocodes the location to find the locality, and then provides buttons to open the various GIS of that locality if available.

The script and brief instructions, including how to get an API key, are available from Greasyfork: https://greasyfork.org/scripts/21228

This is my first script for WME so please feel free to provide feedback.

Thank you for that script, Philistine11. It’s a lot easier than going to the local wiki or searching for them Google-style. Now if someone could devise a front end for all those GIS interfaces that make them work more-or-less the same . . .

Awesome! Now just need to get SC added…

Would you please add SC to the script? The sheet ID is 1uz6-l0WFL8fURxaqfbE6LHE2unRf9qjy-BadcX5ywtU

Have you tried something like ArcGIS Explorer Desktop? You can pull the data straight from the GIS server and organize it in folders, and you just check checkboxes to enable filters as you need them.

I’m not sure Waze wants us to use the copyrighted data but perhaps it would be OK. Also I work in about 30 or 40 counties. That single button sure is nice.

Sorry, didn’t get a chance to check the forum earlier today. SC is added. Thanks for the contribution.

Please add OH to the script.

OH is live.

Awesome! Thanks!

Bug: When exiting Event mode, the script fails to reinitialize

Oh, I haven’t played with Event mode at all. I’ll try to take a look at that later today. Thanks for the report

Will this require a script update? I am not getting the button in counties that I have verified do have a county in the sheet.

No update required, but you’re missing the word “County” on all of the later counties in your sheet.

I saw that and added it in but still no go - the button displays upon initial load but clicking it does nothing. Panning the map then removes the button and replaces it with the county name.

The only time the button is removed is if the state is not listed. I just confirmed that OH is listed. Are you sure you’re in Ohio? What county are you having a problem with? I can test myself also.

Yeah, preeeeetty sure I’m in Ohio…

Permalink Ashtabula County is not displaying.

I have disabled all other scripts to ensure it isn’t script interference, as well.

Figured it out. I was adding them via the mobile Drive and for some reason it wasn’t syncing. I close and reopened it, and now it should be fixed.

Thanks!

I think I set this up right… here’s my sheet for Wisconsin

Thanks to Phillistine, California is now active! There is probably still some tuning required with so many links, so let us know of any problems.
