Hello fellow Waze Map Editors,
I’m excited to introduce my latest user script, WME Layer Counter, designed to enhance your Waze Map Editing experience! WME Layer Counter is a user script that allows you to easily keep track of your active layers in the Waze Map Editor (WME). It’s a handy tool for those of us who like to work with multiple layers and want to stay within the maximum layer limit.
Features:
Real-time display of active layers.
Tooltip with detailed information.
User-friendly interface.
Seamless integration with WME.
How to Use:
Install a user script manager like Tampermonkey (if you haven’t already).
Install the WME Layer Counter script from Greasy Fork.
Open the Waze Map Editor (WME).
You’ll see a new toolbar element that shows your active layers.
Hover over it to see a tooltip with additional information.
Installation:
You can install WME Layer Counter from Greasy Fork by clicking the “Install” button.
Feedback:
I welcome any feedback, suggestions, or bug reports. Feel free to reply to this thread or contact me directly.
Known Issues:
I hope you find WME Layer Counter helpful in your Waze Map Editing endeavors. Happy editing!
WME already adds it’s own layers on page load. So example would be using Toolbox and adding lock level displays or soft turns. Each one you check will add a new layer to display. Some scripts add a new layer on page load. So you can’t disable it unless you disable the script.
I made this script mostly for when I have too many scripts running and I notice WME isn’t working right. When I try to select a segment and it doesn’t highlight on hover or some scripts aren’t displaying info. I can look up and see that I have too many layers running and that is why xyz script might not be working right. WME can only display so many layers before it stops showing some layers. It’s happened to me before and all I had to do was turn off some scripts. I normally run about 30 scripts at a time.
Your Layers Counter is like “No touchy touchy”. I’ll take a look at later today. Have you tried using it without edit counter on? what other scripts are you using that changes the toolbar? I see your profile pic is on the left.
Ok, so I’m late to the party. When exactly did number of layers become a thing? What are layers? Map layers? Something else? Why (according to this script) is the limit 81, and is there a way to increase that? I use the scripts that I use because I want/need them to help with editing, etc., and there used to not be a problem with them. Now there is, and apparently it’s because I’m using more than the maximum number of layers. Sorry, I’m just aggravated by this…
There has been a limit for a very long time. That’s why Toolbox went through a lot of work to reduce the number of layers and when they were active. The difference is the last update (or the one before) increased the number of layers the native editor uses so we have less to work with.
If you have acces to beta forum, I recommend this topic to (luckily) historic and super annoying bug in WME WME itself was increasing the Layer Counter…
Update 2024.7.4.2 Is now OUT!
-Changed the layer count method so it can work with both prod and beta.
-Added color changing background. Know your limit!
