[Script] WME layers menu behavinator (v0.6)

The functionality in this script was added to the WME natively, so this userscript is no longer relevant.

The latest version of the WME that has been released today changes the layers menu so that it needs to be clicked if you want to show/hide a layer. As this was already present in the beta, I’ve created a small userscript that makes the layers menu show up just by hovering over it, just like it used to do. If you want the layer menu to stick, that can still be done with this userscript active.

It seems very likely to me that this will be fixed in one of the next versions though, as it doesn’t really make sense to change that behaviour completely now.

You can find the script at Greasyfork: https://greasyfork.org/scripts/27439-wme-layers-menu-behavinator

Thank you for having this ready on day one.

Thanks, hopefully the devs can get this fixed fairly quick. They have know since Beta release after all.

Not only that, within the thread to the Beta v1.31 it was announced to get fixed in the next version…

Yes indeed. I wanted to make a post about it when the v1.32 was released but…now is in PROD!

Just released a small update which makes the script apply itself to the layers menu after you’ve logged in (as that event also seems to cause a redraw of the layers menu).

If you already utilize WMEFU, this feature is also included in it now.

It is included in WMEFU, but the panel flickers if you try to make it stick, so I prefer behavinator. It’s nice to be able to freeze the panel if you occasionally want to do so.

Interesting. After the latest update, when trying to make the layers panel stick, the panel disappears and becomes transparent. The zoom control moves over, but the panel is not displayed. Anyone else seeing this?

I just started noticing that as well. I will have to report it to them when I have time.

I think I’ll just leave this userscript as it is once the behaviour has been adjusted in the WME. It won’t serve any purpose any more at that point and I’d advice people to just uninstall it, but I’d rather not force people.

For those not aware: the only functionality this userscript still has is the ability to click on the layers button to pin it in place. If you don’t use this functionality, you can remove this userscript without losing anything.
