I’ve recently discovered this script and it’s been really useful – I’ve tidied up quite a few road names.

But, it keeps flagging up roads with the “Val” abbreviation for Valley such as Rock Val, Mansfield which seems to comply with the wiki.

Not sure if it’s script error or user error. Any thoughts would be welcome.

@Jack
The script v1.9 needs to be updated by Tim…

@Tim
If the Wiki UK is correct then…
“Val” could be replaced by “Valley”
“Grove” appears twice
“Boulevard”, “Broadway”, “Circus”, “Mount”, “Ridge” could be added… :wink:

Actually, “Valley” is the preferred spelling but we haven’t gotten around to updating the Wiki.

“Boulevard”, “Broadway”, “Circus”, “Ridge” are not common enough to warrant abbreviations either.

:ugeek:

Noted. Thanks Tim!

Is it possible to have this updated to not highlight roads starting with onto.

This would bring it in line with the new naming policy for ramps.

Unless I’ve totally misunderstood the new naming convention.

Roads should never start with “onto”. Waze says that before the name of the street.

I have followed the installation instructions for Chrome but when I am in the editor nothing appears different, I have checked an both scripts are running

I think there’s currently an issue with the script in that it got broken when the last update to the editor was implemented. Mine’s not working at the moment either…

In Chrome to a Hard refresh(cmd + shift + R/ctrl + shift +R) followed by a normal refresh (cmd + R/ctrl + R), that started it working for me.

Unfortunately, it hasn’t fixed it for me. I’ve tried removing and reinstalling the script too

I did all that and cleared cache and its working :slight_smile: now to find what it does lol

oh, after a reboot it seems to be working now, I can get back to validating stuff now :slight_smile:

edit: and it’s stopped working again… :evil:

With the general failure of Validator and the new release of WMEMagic I assume we would like an official UK localisation, rather than some random body looking after any UK specific rules/options.

I’m sure we would; but with the Magic Tool only just having been released (which I suspect was pushed forward by the latest failure of Validator), the Magic author(s) is already being bombarded with requests!

I think that we can manage with US English and defaults for a bit, before we need to try & sort out UK localisations. Also, the experience of seeing validation concerns that affect the rest of the world may lead us to considering what we want to see.

WME Validator is alive again! See first post for details, and UK localisation plugin. Please reply with feedback if anything needs updating.

Great work Tim, I’ve missed not having this :slight_smile:

One thing I’ve noticied:

Do we still need to report this? I was under the impression that non-driveable (i.e. footpaths) could now be connected to driveable nodes.

Thanks :slight_smile:

You don’t need to to anything about it. It’s already been requested on the Validator topic to have that check removed.

Glad you appreciate it, although nothing to do with me :mrgreen:

Are you aware that the links might be wrong?

For example the abbreviations link goes to wazeopedia.waze.com/wiki/United_Kingdom/Roads#Abbreviations which has a 404
