Is tapping another icon really that difficult?

It is when you have a short time to get a new destination. Also, the poorly-advertised default is a problem.
It takes a split second to press another provider. Literally less than a second… I fail to see the problem.

I usually get better results from Bing than I do from Google. Google’s database is years out of date. In the New Orleans area, Google still provides addresses for businesses that were wiped out by Hurricane Katrina, now 7 years ago.
However, when Bing fails it fails big-time. In Florida last week, I tried to find a McDonald’s and it couldn’t find one within 600 miles!
If you had your update map open, I’ll bet you would have found them.
It is a new feature to help us eat healthy ![]()
Similar thing happened to me, but I was looking for chick fila

Regardless of the time it takes, you fail to see the problem with forcing a default search provider on users without giving them a way to change the default?
It is possible that Bing has paid Waze to be the primary source. (Just guessing.)
No, I see the problem, I just don’t think it should be a priority.

I have to put my 2 cents into that.
The search is really the weakest part within waze.
See my todays search:
First one was for Beingasse in Vienna.
I have entered only “Beingasse” in my first search.
The results were:

Only the second page showed the correct result at the end of the page:

I get same results when entering “Wien Beingasse”.
Only if I enter “Beingasse Wien” I get a perfect match and only 1 result:

Continued in the successor post due to attachement limit ![]()
If I search for “Westbahnhof” (which is ment to be the one in Vienna) I get these results:

As you can see there is no where a correct search for Westbahnhof in Vienna. I have tried this with Wien in front and at the end. The results were the same.
So the search has issues.
I thought you were all right, but read this:
http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php/Android_app_problems
I solved my search problem (could not find anything except when on wifi) on a Samsung Galaxy S3 by following the instruction 2.0.2.7 for the Nexus One.
I could not imagine search being such an issue for Waze, but honestly neither could I imagine that they are still dealing with so many basic errors of new releases, new hardware, etc. I guess it is a real challenge with all the Android variety out there.
Here is another example where I did search for Bremen and Hannover in Germany.
For the two top screens I searched for Bremen only.
For the bottom left one I searched for Universität Bremen.
The two on the bottom right I searched for Hannover. Although the Search showed Hannover, the Routing calculation was never finished and showed those two errors

If I`m only 150 km away from Bremen, why it is shown Bremen in US 8.000 km away and not the one in Germany?
And why does it show Cryomed, Primax or Frutidetalles, which seem not to have anything to do with Bremen …!?
This issue (along with “Rutter’s” in the US) has been brought to the attention of Waze staff … hopefully we will get a response to it after the weekend.
Is an experiment with sponsored links that somehow escaped from the laboratory.
To Europe? That’s far away ![]()
I doubt there will be a route for waze in any case
Ritter, is this still happening? The response from Waze is that this should be corrected now
… let me know whether or not there’s still a problem with this.
Hi Spil,
Just checked it:
Bremen in Germany is now found directly and is on top of the search results.
The Bremens in US are gone as well as the sponsored searches.
For Search after Westbahnhof, I still get searches from much further away than Vienna. Westbahnhof in Vienna is not listed although I`m only around 30 km away.
For Search after Beingasse: Beingasse is still the last one in the search results and not the first one as I would expect (potential alternatives (eg. Bahngasse, Böhmgasse) can be listed afterwards, as it is done with Bremen)
