I’m trying to work out how to add construction markers to Springvale Road from Highbury Road, down to U-Turn lane if you head south from Highbury Road.
The construction appears to be ongoing with no clear end date yet and affects both directions of traffic (both north and southbound traffic as I believe they are doing some road work to the centre strip, so have closed off the right-most lanes for this section of road).
I travel this section of road most weekdays, so am a little tired of people reporting the construction, and then me having to tap “Yes this is still there” only for it to go away the next day and have to report it again.
It’s worth noting that directions aren’t a problem, would just be good to add the warning of construction more permanently around there.
Sorry I can’t seem to find any documentation to backup this construction, but I’m hoping it exists in the history of people reporting things on this stretch of road.
With regards to a more permanent road work indicator, unfortunatley there is nothing further that whats available in app. We arent able to close a particular lane (just in case thats what they are doing. All I could offer would be changing the speed limit if roadworks has been going on for a while and the permanent limit changed 24x7 I could update that. Otherwise I dont envy you have to daily drive through a construction zone.
Yes, you’re absolutely correct about those two segments of road. I wasn’t even aware that you could choose multiple segments!
The speed limit is temporarily signed as 60km/h instead of the 70km/h as the barriers block off one lane of traffic (the lane closest to the middle where they are doing road works). I’m aware that Waze doesn’t have the facility to tell people a lane is closed as that’s getting really detailed, I was hoping however that we could put a more permanent indicator of “Construction” at the start points of those two segments given that, as I mentioned, the roadworks appear to be ongoing.
I don’t know enough about the Waze system about how they “clear” or “stay on the map” but figured that someone with a higher authority could say mark it for a month instead of day(s) at a time?
Apologies as I’m less of a Map editor and more of a normal road user so often report or confirm road hazards than I do needing to update the map on a more permanent basis, so I’m still not quite sure what is and isn’t possible.
Forgot to come back to this one… Looks like the construction works are finished, so I’ll close out this post and it looks like we don’t need to do anything else.
Anyone else searching in future, it looks like we’re unable to add a ‘perminant road construction’ marker if only a couple of lanes are closed and the discussion that I’ve had is that map editors could possibly reduce the speed limit during that zone as a warning.
Hopefully that helps anyone else that comes across this post.
