Thanks!

Alexandre!

Please check your permalink. I see a VERY zoomed out version of Sherbrooke.

Permalinks should be copied when you have the streets you need unlocked selected – that way, they show up in the permalink and can be easily looked at and unlocked.

Thanks,

Hi,

Hi,

I made theses edit amost one year ago, I think I’ve lost the rights to edit.

Got a new area hour ago, but only around my work.

Will fix that after work today!

Thanks!

Is this the area:

OH! You’re asking for Area Manager status there.

Presently, you need to go through the AM request form.

Also, please be careful about your city names. I just fixed this segment: https://www.waze.com/editor/?zoom=4&lat=45.43535&lon=-71.89924&layers=BFTFFTTTTTTTTTTTTTFTTTTFTT&segments=60691300 – its city was “Shrerbrooke”

Where do I go to ask that?

Have fun
ne te décourage pas !!

Also, note, I’ve renamed the Sherbrooke area to reflect the Burroughs as the city name. This matches what has been used elsewhere (e.g. Montreal).

i did visit that town twice and i don’t think it deserve to be split by each name

true “Shrebrooke(Fleurimont)” is an area of sherbrooke, but does it worth it to add that info in waze, i dont think waze is at the level to add all cities sub-divisions, (5k to 7k) citizens areas for the voting and cities budget re-distributions
even Google didn’t let me put such divisions in a city north of montreal based on the city web site info’s
but here is the divisions as they will be in november 2013
http://www.ville.sherbrooke.qc.ca/fileadmin/fichiers/Mairie/Projetdecarteelectorale2013.pdf

That sort of makes sense… but these are areas with their own mayor & council. There are some in the US that are named, but have a population of fewer than 100.

so, we should mark them as
1- city(division)
2- division
3- city only

still i’m far from my usual area… 150+ km…
at 5k edits im still far from CM… but ill add some AM… but it takes time… Gotta Work, Kids and work around the home… Final… the most annoying !!!

Traffic !!

I thought the policy with Montreal was the burrough only (I see that’s not the current state in the wiki). This is rather easy to remedy to #1 (matching Montreal).

The state right now is #2 – burrough only, though I didn’t eliminate the alternative names.

The problem is then on the address we don’t use the burrough, only the city name even at the limit of the City and the borrough is mainly known of the people of the area and the postsign only guide you to the city limit or the main area of the city, so tourist that use waze plan to use the Postal address to get to destinations and ignore burrough that might have the same name if a city whit in the province

for the montreal case it was several city that did merge together whit in montreal to form
one island / one city like the island north of it “Laval” but some cities didn’t wanted and did split from the new montreal “mostly those whit above 60% english citizens”, but that is an other story

for the case of sherbrooke i whould put as #3 since its all whit in a single city,
i compare it as Paris, France it got 20 sub-divisions and waze dosen’t mark them
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arrondissements_of_Paris
and montreal Island got “Sub-Cities” that are more then a Sub-Division
but i’m not a CM i will let you take a side for this case

Well, in this case, it was actually several towns/villages/cities that merged into the “Greater Sherbrooke” area. If they hadn’t retained some local (burrough) government, I’d be all for naming them “Sherbrooke” – but the fact is, they’re now actually 6 cities all being called by one name. This is like the Lower Mainland of BC all going by “Vancouver”, when in fact, there is Vancouver, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Surrey, Delta, Richmond, etc… each with their own government.

New York has a similar situation: “Bronx” and “Queens” are burroughs and are what Waze uses. Outsiders know it all as “New York, NY”.

I’m OK with “Sherbrooke (Fleurimont)” and “Sherbrooke (Brompton)” if that’s what’s preferred… but to call the entire thing “Sherbrooke” is incorrect.

so, as i see this city waze must follow the option #1
E.G. : “Sherbrooke (Fleurimont)”
since Sherbrooke is an MRC and a City
Fleurimont is only a district but only 1 mayor for sherbrooke area

since as i see it its one city divided in 6 district and no districts that is actually “Sherbrooke”
so we can’t actually delete Sherbrooke from waze map “it would be an error”
and the 19 sub-divisions is simply to silly and would make a mess…(one council member each)

to solve all that possible mess waze would need to add 3 areas to split well all the province of quebec and keep those district listed
p.s. i dont know for the other provinces (sorry)

since province of quebec we got 2 divisions that aren’t mentions that are bigger then cities/villages
17 regions
100 county’s (MRC) …“Greater Sherbrooke Area”
1111 cities/town/villages
didn’t find the numbers of sub-divisions (district) but whould add to the Mess

get a look
http://www.toponymie.gouv.qc.ca/ct/toponymie-municipale/municipalites-arrondissements/toponymie_municipale.aspx
or
http://www.mamrot.gouv.qc.ca/repertoire-des-municipalites/fiche/municipalite/?tx_mamrotrepertoire_pi1[order]=asc_code_mun

MRC = that is a goup of town/villages/cities could count be only 1 city whit in an MRC

but this tread is getting a lil off it based thread “unlock request”

I did move this thead info to
http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=656&t=51444

where this subject is more fit to be solved / discussed
