As we are well aware in South Africa we do have constant name changes.
There seems to be an issue with municipal regions, as the name change, the old name seems to be linked to the street addresses as well.
My question is how do one update an area to change the name when the government now decide town A is now called town M
And more, is there no way to somehow keep the old names in the background, as for instance William Nicol is no more, but a large amount of companies still have it as their address.
Good question, I am not sure if this is more of a level thing, maybe just post a change request on the map?
I have done this before for the region, and the changes were accepted to change the road name to the new area, however on the overall map region, it still shows the old area.
Maybe someone on this forum will answer, sorry I do not know.
This question is a general WME question. and should have been asked in thw WME forum.
Any city/town name can be changed by an editor with a suitable level that is country dependent, and the twon should be in his editable area.
When the name is changed correctly, it is changed in all segments’ and venues’ adresses.
In case you want to keep the old name in an address of a venue, you have to enter an alternative name for the place, and add the old address as part of the name.
Alternatively, one can change the town name to: “New name (Old name)” for the first period until everyone gets used to the new name and then change it to “New name”.
There is no possibility to give two names to the same city/town.
