Yes, this is definitely an appropriate place to request the camera to be added!
I put it on the map. It may take ~36h for it to make it to the next map update in the app.
I’ve seen some reports that there is also a camera there for westbound traffic, but the CTV article only metions “from Moss Hill Trail to Shea Road.”
Do you know if there are cameras on both sides, or were the westbound drivers confused?
The camera is facing east to catch the eastbound traffic on Abbott. There are warning signs about the camera both directions so that may have confused people.
There’s another camera in Stittsville I’d like to report but need to drive by to pinpoint the location, should I start a new thread for that one or reply here?
I can see the camera alert is now live on Waze, however it only alerts for westbound traffic, not eastbound… the camera is pointing east.
Here’s video from the dashcam… You can just see Sacred Heart high school on the south side, the camera is also on the south side pointing east: https://photos.app.goo.gl/VT9kmgdCtmgYjv2q9
In many municipalities in Ontario, photo radar is configured to take images of the rear plate of the vehicle after it passes the camera. I expect Ottawa is the same, which would mean this camera on the south side is monitoring eastbound traffic. There are often signs in all directions, but the cameras only issue tickets in one. This is usually the case for red light cameras as well, in our experience.
I approached the eastbound camera a bit more to the street, hopefully it will trigger the alerts better.
I removed the westbound camera that was added after reports from confused drivers.
I mentioned that there is another camera to be placed on the map?
