Speed Limit Edit

I used to be able to click on the speed limit icon in the lower left corner to enter/modify a speed limit while driving. It was very easy and intuitive. That capability has disappeared. Does anyone know why and is there another way to enter a speed limit?

Welcome to the Waze forums! Do you currently edit? If not, we’d love to have you! When you submit a speed limit report in the app, it goes to local editors for review and updating / adding if needed.

I’m not aware of the shortcut in iOS, but I do know you can get to it by tapping the “report” icon, then “Map Issue”, then “Map Issue” again, then “Speed Limit Issue”.

It’s important to note as soon as you start the report, Waze notes your location so it can be used later when you come to a stop.

Thanks dBsooner for the reply. I was not aware of this modification. It was so easy to advise of speed limit change or add under the previous method. Obviously, it must have been abused for Waze to require a local map editor to confirm the change It would seem, however, that they would be able to make the older method for long time and trusted Waze users. This will new approach will work but will require a bit more attention to be paid while driving to make the report. Thanks again.

Let me run this by my fellow volunteers and make sure I’m not missing anything.

Appreciate your attention to this issue.

There is a post explaining the reasoning behind the change here: https://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1717523#p1717523

In short, the functionality of reporting via the speedometer has been removed, but the report can still be made in the same manner of any other map issue being reported. Also, keep in mind that response to speed limit reports may be slower than to other reports. While the other types of map issues can be seen and worked by any volunteer map editor, the speed limit reports can currently only be seen by map editors with access to the Beta editor. We do not know when (or if) they will return to being seen by all editors, so patience is appreciated.
