Hi everyone. Just been trying Waze for the first time this weekend and I noticed the speed shown on the app is around 6-7kmph slower than the speedo in my car. My car has a digital speedo, so I’m not looking at a dial from a funny angle or anything.
How accurate have other users found it?
My first impressions of Waze were as follows:-
1 Disappointed that it wasn’t compatible with Android Auto
2 Clear and uncluttered map
3 Like the speed zone being displayed
4 Lots of missing roads around my area (Willunga), guess I’ll have to get good at editing!
This is a subject that has come up before.
There was a previous discussion where I posted more explanation here.
As ituajr says, if Australian cars are required to never show less than the actual speed you are doing, that pretty much guarantees they will always be showing somewhat more than the real speed. The speedo in Waze has no such obligation. ![]()
Thanks for the quick replies. Really interesting info that I never knew about.
As far as editing the maps, I had a go last night and add a missing road and also edited an existing road that is split in two with just a pedestrian footbridge in the middle. I think I did this correctly! After a bit of trial and error
Thanks Ituajr, completely missed the naming part. I’ve finished that off now. This particular street is closed off at the bottom on Saturday mornings because the local market takes place there, I think I’ll have to read up a bit more on editing before I try to tackle that (if it’s even possible),
I must say it seems a very strange rule that you can’t look at google maps to confirm a street name, even more so with google actually owning both!
I tried using a permalink feature, so here goes

Thanks once again for your help
