Hi all,
There appears to be a tendancy at the moment to split roads. Keep in mind that splitting roads should not be taken as lightly as it has been. A working section of road may become a not so working section of road where the instructions all of a sudden do not make sense or routing is no longer optimal.
I had a case this afternoon where I completely lost a turn left instruction, luckily I wasn’t new to the road. The split has now been unsplit to return the intersection to simplicity. I had no problems in the past to suggest that a split was necessary. A review of the GPS traces shows that only a turning lane may have been necessary (where there was not one previously) (Permalink at 100m zoom: https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=5&lat=-27.56289&lon=153.01575&layers=TBFTTFTTTTFTTFTTTTTFTTTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTT). I have retained the turning lane but if you zoom in you’ll notice that I have created a small section at a sharp angle to the road that is being left, this forces a turn right instruction instead of risking a keep left instruction (Zoomed here: https://world.waze.com/editor/?zoom=10&lat=-27.56301&lon=153.01587&layers=TBFTTFTTTTFTTFTTTTTFTTTFTTTTTTTTTTTTTT&segments=211527452)
