It has been over 5 years since I started using Waze. Waze is always on during my 60-mile commute to and from work.
Is there a way to stop the bell or ‘ding’ noise that is associated with hazards? I came across an online discussion where people were talking about it, but I didn’t come across any posts that prevented this terrible noise. I have attempted numerous fixes, but none seems to be effective. I cannot imagine that only a few of us were the ones who complained.
Please… can anyone help me??
Hi @Nicolette333, thanks for being a user and reaching out to the forums for help. I’ll quote some of your questions for easier follow.
Actually, its quite the opposite, with permanent hazards, including school zones, they have been accepted by drivers - in-fact I’ve seen more user reports requesting certain permanent hazards to be added than to supress alerts.
If they’re very persistent, perhaps its something in your community/drive, if you can let us know the location we can take a look to see if something is getting mapped incorrectly.
If you insist, you can customise your alerts, this following link will direct you on how do that in the app.
Customize your alerts - Waze Help
You can configure alerts by hazard type and you can also define if you’d like to just remove the alert, but keep it visual.
Permanent hazards do have a familiar cap and permanent hazards/driver alerts also have grouping, so as I mentioned above, if there’s a lot, then maybe its something localised to your area that we need to take a look at.
Hi Bryce. I think @Nicolette333’s issue may be that certain versions of the app have a bug that causes the app to use “BING!” sounds to announce some/all of the hazard alerts. It’s quite loud, and unintentional.
I’m not sure of the fix, but its something we can look into.

Apparently its a problem with the TTS voices. You can try typing the following “tech code” into the Waze app search bar and selecting a new Waze voice in the Waze settings.
