Hi,
We’ve received a map update request to Waze support and we’re posting here on the user’s behalf. The link to this post will be forwarded for the user to follow up.
This is the user’s request:
The Waze route from Punta Caelo condos in San Carlos, Panamá, Central America, to the Vista Mar Marina, a short distance away, is drastically impasible. The first time I saw that route, I knew it was wrong. But out of curiosity, I went back in the daytime, when it was not raining, just to see where it would take me.
FYI, I like to explore Panamá. It’s one of the reasons I brought a full-size RAM 4x4 to Panamá. But this route from Waze was a bit of a challenge even for my truck. Although I made it most of the way (to a locked gate), I was only able to do so in 4WD LOW mode, I am absolutely certain that even a lesser 4WD vehicle, with less ground clearance, would not make it through those muddy roads (I use the term “roads” loosely), without getting stuck. Even I would not want to traverse that route at night or when the ground was wet. Even my aggressive tread tires were slipping at times.
The proper route is straight down the TransAmerica Highway (aka Carretera Panamericana), to Calle Principal, which is the ONLY entrance to the Vista Mar gated community. It is paved all the way.
The attached screenshots show the un-edited Waze route in one image and an annotated image, showing the correct route. In the annotated image, the dashed line shows the correct route. The slashes across the road show the portion of the route that should be considered “Impassable”. Note: The ONLY accessible entrance to Vista Mar is through the gate on Calle Principal.
