Have look at the UK Live Map at the moment! 13 Chit Chats, 12 of them are from “Big Guy” and each one says “Hi” with nothing further to add - this is a frequent occurrence from this guy and is clearly point-grabbing whilst cluttering the map! :x
I have had many pings from bigguy all saying hi. and every day you can find the map cluttered with chit chats from bigguy
The same happens in the US, but with different offenders. Really annoying.
Thought of this post this morning when I noticed that one user was replying “Thank u” to every single report, even when that was a completely nonsensical response.
I believe support gave him a warning a couple of days ago! Haven’t seen any since!
Waze ought to warn Underdog in the US. He says Hi nearly daily. Not much help avoiding traffic with that kind of chatter.
I’ve gone off-ping because of Underdog. Maybe 2 or 3 times a day he pings to say hi, and when/if I reply he won’t come back. I think he earned most of his points by chit-chat spamming.
Ya know…I think this discussion is a slippery slope.
After all, Waze is a “social” navigation app.
If you don’t want to get pinged, turn it off.
I have had a few conversations with Underdog, since you mention him.
He’s a decent guy.
Matter of fact, next month I’m gonna give him a crash course on map editing when he’s in my neck of the woods.
I have had folks ping me that won’t respond, and found that if you find them on the map and ping them back a few times they will leave you alone …
I don’t think it’s a slippery slope at all. I have no problem with the ping feature or sensible chit chats but when one user makes up 90% of the chit chats on the map, each one simply says, “Hi” and there is never any follow up to any responses then it’s spam and being used to game the system. It benefits nobody but the spammer and fills the map/report functions with nonsense!
I agree such chitchats should be considered spam, but I don’t think individual cases should be discussed on the forum. It’s better to try to contact them through a PM or ping, and if that does not help, report them to the Waze staff using the abuse option in the client or by mail.
Hello. Is anyone knows how to “unabuse” the user? The one was reported as abused accidentally. And since that time can’t reseive see any messages from that wazer.
Thank you.
I didn’t realise the “Report abuse” function worked that way and certainly not that quickly but in any case I would contact support@waze.com and explain the situation (including user IDs etc) to them!
I’ve noticed the same. I reported a user that was abusing the chit chat function and I haven’t seen any chit chats or replies from them since… anywhere. I’m not sure that it does anything at all other than hide their chit chats from you specifically. Sort of silly, in my opinion.
