Thailand Wazers - Assemble!

Greeting fellow Thai Wazers!

The time has come to move forward and create a vivid and thriving Waze community in Thailand.

We are looking for local Thai editors that can help us create mapping guidelines in Thailand, support new comers and lead the ever growing community in the country.

Feel free to contact me and Mapsir and share your ideas, insights, suggestions etc.

Looking forward to hear from you,

I am not a local but, since my travels in December /January, I do have an editable area roughly between Krabi and Ko Sukorn. I’m happy to assist.

Hi All!

Thanks for your will to help with the map in Thailand!!

I am MapSir from Waze HQ and I will be coordinating this project together with Unholy the magnificent.
The first phase will be to improve the map in Bangkok where we already have drivers and a pretty nice map which needs fine tuning.
Some stats about Bangkok:
Open MP - 90
Open UR - 899

Users who wish to help us solve these problems will be granted permissions to edit in Bangkok.
If you’re up for the task say “Ay!”

More to come after that. Stay tuned.

Ay!
Peter

Peter you have AM permissions in Bangkok, thanks!

Hi all,
I’m a USA based editor.

I’ll be happy to help any way I can. If we can get the wiki setup with the local guidelines would be a huge start. I can even bring more editors to help improve the map.
Please let me know if there is anything specific you need from me.

I will try to find some time and fix map problems around Bang Na/Samut Prakan.

Ay / Hi everybody,
I’m Arno, a dutch colleague of Dutchdirt (peter).
Peter got me looking at Thailand and I’ve got a small area there to help him with possible locks or other stuff, when I’m not wazing in the NL or UAE  .
I’d like to help out in Bangkok as well if necessary with editing or just unlock request if needed.

Perhaps a good idea for the waze staff to setup the forum properly with an unlock SUB-forum section instead of a topic?
Is there any CM who’s active on the forum and has moderator rights?

agreed

All the locks can be lowered but we should get the guidelines setup/implement first. This way more people can help and follow the same guidelines. We certainly need locals input on this. Thanks

Hi Guys!

Glad to have you all on board, which of you need editing permissions in Bangkok?
Let me know so I can set them for you.

Unholy already made the Unlock Requests a sub-forum.
There might be an option to lower all locks automatically, but as Orbit said it’s best to set the editing rules first.
Unfortunately we don’t have many locals editing, or active, so tell me if I should go ahead with the auto-unlocks.

Thanks!!

I’d like to help release l5 locks if I have rights

Good to see the sub forum!
(Could you also add to put the required Lock level in the request Subject line?)

I agree on first set all the rules. I’ve seen some strange useage of ramps and freeways in the first area I looked in :?

On the auto-unlocks, we might set a schedule to lower everything by 1 or 2 levels? Instead of all to L1, to prevent L1 starting editors to mess up the main routes that ARE working well

Tip for editors with no local experience : On 2-way roads drivers are required to drive on the left hand side of the road.

Ay!

I am local to Bangkok and would be happy to help. My initial comment is to agree that there are too many level 5 locks; I have hesitated to post many map errors to forum since I think my extensive list would annoy any level 5 editor…
