Waze has been sending a lot of new traffic including trucks and even tractor trailers down our small road. I know truck drivers are supposed to use commercial navigation systems but they don’t. Thatcher Street in Sellirk, NY has a low weight limit, no trucks signs at both ends and a 90 degree curve in the middle. A public park is also on the road. Half of the street has no sidewalks so people walking, especially dangerous on the curve, must walk on the side of the road. It is dangerous. Trucks drive through the yard on the curve because the road is too narrow. Route 396/ Maple Ave is supposed to The the main route between the NYS throughway/ Rte 143 and Route 9W. Please remove all directed traffic from this road in your app.
Thank you,
Joanne Vogel
Good evening, Waze is designed for personal vehicle, motorcycle and taxi use only. Waze does not and currently has no plans to ever support commercial traffic. That said, we map all legal and public roadways for drivers to use. If the road already has posted no commercial trucks signs on both ends and weight limits signs and the commercial traffic is driving down the road this is an issue for your local police department to enforce.
As you said the commercial trucks are supposed to use commercial GPS, but they’re also supposed to follow traffic laws and legal signs. This is not a Waze problem. Should you feel the roadway is getting more traffic than the roadway can handle id suggest contacting your local council about adding legal restrictions to the roadway, such as no through traffic, or ask the police department for more traffic enforcement.
