I live in an area with poor coverage, and findmyself frequently paving new roads where they do not exist in Waze. However, due to a disability I have limited use of the computer, and therefore find myself mostly unable to edit the result later.
There is an area manager in the area, but the area is quite large, so I guess he has a lot to do. My question is therefore: is there a value in paving new roads without editing them later? Will the roads ever appear on the map available for other users? The documentation is a bit vague on the exact process…
Yes! Please if roads do not exist, record them. The server will record the roads with any information it gets, e.g. speed and directionality. The only thing it doesn’t know unless you edit afterwards is the exact roadtype and name/city.
What do others benefit? Your roads WILL exist for them, even if you don’t edit them and therefor routing will include your roads!

you mention driving direction. if some records a new road, does the server eventually figure the direction out by, lets say, you drive over that new road a dozen times in one direction only?

Yes, the server will figure the direction out. But often someone will use the website map editor to fix it before that happens.
Going back recording over the same road isn’t a problem. If you have good GPS accuracy, the recorded new road will become two-way. If not, it can be cleaned up in the online map editing.
What you want to avoid is recording new roads over the top of correct, named, already existing roads. That just creates needless work cleaning up and deleting them. But it happens and isn’t the end of the world. Just don’t turn road recording on, unless it is your intent to record a new road.
