No matter what issue I select anywhere in the Waze Map Editor I get an error stating that “This issue is outside of your editing area” or some variation of it (some also due to the issue requiring a higher user level to edit, but that’s understandable).
The areas I looked are clearly areas that I visited, some even less than a mile around my house, while some others even on my drive that shows being recognized by Waze. The areas are accurately being recognized by Waze that I have in fact visited them, so I have no idea what could be causing the issue.
I searched online and came across the following support page which confirmed my understanding of the requirements to be able to edit the map or solve an issue. I clearly am meeting the requirements described below.
You were blocked from editing back in 2014. This usually happens if you make many wrong edits and don’t respond to messages from people trying to get in touch with you about it.
Since this is your first forum post it’s safe to assume you never got in touch with your community of editors before… So I moved this thread to the US forums where it will be seen by the right people if you wish to request to be unblocked.
I’d also recommend connecting with your local community using the real-time chat platform “Discord”. You can join the follow communities by following the links below. Just keep an eye on your private message inbox.
Well, this is rather interesting… I made a few minor edits based on issue reports when I first joined, but I REALLY doubt any were considered wrong or incorrect.
Could I have been blocked since I haven’t been active since then? Any other reasons for getting blocked?
If you’re asking me I cannot answer because I didn’t see what you did in 2014 and wasn’t the one who made the request. I suggest you ask by responding to the PMs which were sent to you according to the messages above.
What I can say in general is that nobody gets blocked for inactivity, that simply doesn’t happen. People who are inactive simply lose access to their editing areas after 90 days but as soon as they resume driving around with the app their recently driven areas start to open again.
Many new editors are convinced that they are making correct edits because they know the place they are editing and what they are trying to do. Yet, this isn’t the same as knowing the Editor, its tools and features and what you are doing in a purely technical aspect, that’s why there are wikis to read for using WME.
(Edit: I see that you already got replies before I could post my own message)
Dariuszzz,
Thanks for joining NOR discord, but based on your local area, you are actually in NER (New England Region). I had sent you a direct message (in Discord) with the correct link.
I also sent few PMs for you via Waze’s private message. You haven’t answered the recent one or the one from 2014.
