To-do list: Western WA

If anyone has any to-do lists they need to pass on to other editors in Western WA please post in this thread.

There’s a city name issue for JBLM in Tacoma. All named roads in JBLM should have the city Joint Base Lewis-McChord, but JB Lewis-McChord was used and somehow JB Lewis-McCord snuck in (no h in McChord). Non-named roads like Private Rds and PLRs can just skip any city. JBLM should be used as an alt city name for segments to aid in drivers searching for addresses using JBLM as a city (common to locals and military alike). So if anyone wants to tackle both road segments and Places that would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need an unlock.

If Waze takes us 84 to I5 instead of 90 I’ll have EA there after 7/20.

I handle the US Military installations in NJ, so I don’t mind addressing the city names and checking other stuff for standard.

I’m done, I believe, so long as you can double-check something for me. The entrance to their house is down the private road. The closest I can set the stop point, however, is on Lea Hill Rd Se at the entrace to the private road. Is there a way you can force the stop point on the private road? I don’t believe there is a way, at least not in my capacity. If not, I have it as good as it’s going to get. Thanks!

I approved the PUR. You’ll want to convert it to a Residential Place (link just bellow the add linked Google Place). You’ll also want to add an entry point and nudge it.

For a Residential Place Point to force an address to end on a road that’s not the named address segment you need to have the full address complete with city. (you have this)
You’ll need an Entry Point, and it needs to be nudged.
The segment that you end on needs to have the city for your address on the segment, either primary city or alternate city.

It will take 2 tile updates before the address will be searchable.

Another thing on the list. Identify toll booths for the National Parks, add passes to qualifying roads.

Parking Lots at Bellevue College need attention. Specifically identifying the Parking Lot Areas (Lot 1, Lot 2, etc…) and harmonizing them.

Speed limits throughout Seattle are in need of updates. One example are these segments of Golf Drive and 15th Ave S on Beacon Hill, signed for 25 MPH (the default limit for arterial routes in the city) which has persisted at 30 MPH despite multiple reports by yours truly.

I haven’t been editing much, but I have dutifully reported the lowered speed limits in the city. How do we get these changes made en masse?

BTW the segments I linked are locked to Level 3 edits, I’m at Level 1.

Hi thrmphrsy, there is no “en masse” way of doing it. Seattle has rolled out the speed limits in stages and not across the entire city making anything en masse being potentially as incorrect as not doing anything. That’s not to say that we shouldn’t try to get things fixed as we find them.

The other problem we had was that we were getting upwards of 100-300 speed limit reports a day. With few editors willing to tackle the task you could probably see that it would snowball into something unusable. Eventually staff decided to disable the speed limit reporting from the speedometer in the app and that helped stem the tide, but there were still thousands of reports to deal with. Not long ago staff purged the speed limit reports, there were just too many and most were nonsense ones asking for 70 mph on Denny Way or 25 mph on I-5. Even before staff fixed anything most reports were merged with other reports before we ever saw then so when we asked for more info we rarely got a response. It was assumed only one of the reporters got the message for more info and they didn’t respond. Also since the reports were merged the location of the report wasn’t accurate.

At any rate We always appreciate any hands on experience. I’ve lowered the lock level of those segments. Please update the speeds and let me know when you’re done so I can relock.

I’ll also invite you to our discord channel. It’s what we primarily use for chat these days. https://discord.me/wazenwr All of the PNW State Managers can help from there since they all have access to the entire region. It also means you get faster responses since there’s usually one of us on most of the time.

If you don’t want to join discord or you’re trying to work from a location that has it blocked there’s also the unlock forums. https://www.waze.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=622 Be sure to read how to ask for an unlock in the stickies of that forum.

If anyone with editing area near the Clinton ferry can take a look at this it would be appreciated. Construction slated to begin Feb 18th, 2019.

Looks like the only thing we need to do is close Ferry Dock Rd.
I put it in through March, starting tomorrow 05:00.
