Is Waze suppose to automatically route you a different route then the traffic is on? If not it should! Some of us are to busy to watch waze 24/7 ![]()
I got a message the other day that my route was changed due to traffic.
Yes, it should route you if there is traffic. The caveat to that is that there has to have been someone else running Waze ahead of you that experienced the traffic. Then Waze would report the traffic.
If there is a faster route than the route with traffic, then Waze will reroute you. If a faster route cannot be found (due to the other routes not being mapped or connected, traffic on the other routes, the other routes are slower even with traffic) then it will not update.
I seem to have a consistant problem that when I pick a destination to go to the routing service isnât working. After about 4 tries it kicks in. This doesnât happen all the time, but it does happen a lot.
Also, I see messages come on my screen with things like 39mph on roads that I am on.
When I report traffic it only shows that there is traffic jam reported not with any speed showing.
Do people type that in while driving. That would seem dangerous to try to do while driving.
There are user reports, which traffic jam is one of the options (the road bubbles / pushpins). Then there is automated traffic detections that the servers do, these are the ones that color the roads and indicate an average speed.
Automatic traffic detection is a work in progress. So sometimes we see slow areas where someone has pulled over and there was no road to assign the speed to. Also the traffic reports are based on the average speed of a road. So if a 55 mph highway is only seen by the waze servers during the 20 mph commute hours, then traffic detection wonât kick in, because the road is at itâs ânormalâ speed.
