This year we will be holding our 6th annual conference in Birmingham on Saturday, July 13th. This is your chance to meet with staff* and other users, to discuss issues and talk about all things Waze. The event will be held at the Novotel in the city centre, and will include lunch and refreshments. We usually start at about 9am, and finish sometime after 5pm.
(*Unfortunately we won’t have any staff from Israel, but hopefully someone from the London office will be able to attend. Shira will video conference in, technology permitting)
As is traditional, there will also be an optional social gathering on the Friday evening at a nearby pub where we eat, drink and chat.
Waze will pay for Friday night’s accommodation + breakfast, and usually reimburse travel expenses. If you need flights, then I’ll send you the travel agent form you need to fill in.
 Registration is now closed
Note:This event is for UK and Ireland editors only, and submitting an entry via this form does not guarantee a place as spaces are limited. Preference will be given to active editors and area managers, though we welcome any other new users too.
If you have any questions, please post them below.
I’ll be busy wearing orange overalls and picking up pieces of broken Formula 1 cars at Silverstone that weekend. I realise I have my priorities mixed up, I’ll give myself a good talking to
Sorry to miss what I’m sure will be another good event, especially as it is next door
Is the registration still open?! Only just remembered it’s that time of year where the event takes place and wanted to attend my first meetup. Also, if it is, has there been any update on the location of the event, as I’m looking at getting the train and I have no knowledge of Birmingham?!
Given how convenient the location is for the station, and the relative journey times by car and train from home, the train is looking a more attractive option for me now as well - does it matter if I change my travel plans compared with the mode of transport I’d originally indicated on the registration form?
Also, when reimbursing train fares, do Waze cover the cost regardless of ticket type (advance, open return etc) and class of travel? I’m tempted by the extra space in first class, and if Waze would cover the full cost then great, but if they’d only cover the equivalent standard ticket price then what paperwork would I need to provide given I wouldn’t have a receipt for that std ticket?
Checking National Rail Enquiries the cheapest fare from Euston to New Street is £7.00 if booked now on the Friday Might be cheaper than parking for the weekend but then it is also the stopping train which takes 2 hours.
I’ve just booked my train - Euston - Birmingham New St. First class advance 12/07 14:43 arr 16:04 £25.75; BNS-EUS 1st ADV 13/07 18:30 arr 19:55 £15.20. (with discount from Senior Railcard). If Waze deem that too expensive, I don’t mind only claiming the standard class off-peak fare of £46.35!
Thing is John Virgin Trains got rid of Peak fares on a Friday Afternoon since it was ridiculous everybody waiting for the first off-peak busy train. I know since I took a train after 7pm to Macclesfield.
I’m thinking of staying the extra night - Saturday 13th rather than rushing to catch a flight back to Dublin. I understand I will be responsible for the accommodation charge for that night.
Looking forward to attending and renewing acquaintances.
I have asked Tim the same question How much for the Saturday Night as well? Since I was last in Birmingham for work on a Saturday Morning and the Wife enjoyed having a wonder and the shopping she could do.
Parking: The hotel car park is based on a first come first serve and is chargeable; they are unable to reserve spaces. The cost of the car park is £18.00 for 6 to 24 hours.
Should the car park be full the nearest one is at the back of the hotel on Brunswick Street, B1 2JF which is a 3 story car park with the same rates.
Reminder: When claiming reimbursement of travel costs, you will need to provide both digital and physical copies of applicable receipts and invoices. For fuel costs, you’ll need a recent fuel receipt, and an estimate of how much fuel you have used for the round trip. I’ll send everyone a link to the necessary form just before the event.
