Unlock request: Robertsdale, AL

I’ve got just one more unlock request for today:

This is a section of AL-59 in Robertsdale, Alabama. There are a couple of unconnected roads I’d like to complete.

Done.

I tried to fix the roads and on of them is still locked:

Strange, it was unlocked when I checked earlier today but I didn’t have time to make all the connections. The section to the north is unlocked and I finished that part.

Done.

In the future it often helps if you highlight the road segments you need unlocked, before creating the Permalink. It helps us unlock the right stuff.

That’s strange, I thought it was highlighted but I see now the last link wasn’t for some reason. Here’s the highlighted segment:

It still hasn’t been unlocked.

I must have forgot to save the edit!

Here is a much more expanded Permalink for SR-59. There are many unnecessary driveways and unneeded nodes to be removed. Plus don’t forget to get rid of those geography nodes left after deleting intersections.

Ah, a project! This’ll keep me busy a while. And thanks again for your patience with me. I am still sort of new to this (and hoping future map updates come sooner so I can see all the corrections shape up on my device.) I just got into removing unnecessary nodes last night and have been going at those a while. I’ve come across quite a few that won’t delete for some reason, (edited) and just now figured it’s because the streets have minor variations in name or type.

Baldwin County is crazy with driveways and pig trails that were recorded as roads by the government.

There is plenty of help in the Waze Wiki to learn tips, tricks, and shortcuts for more efficient editing. A few dedicated editors have been busy lately improving the Wiki too, so be sure to check regularly for new additions.

If you have trouble deleting a node, try disconnecting every road segment connected to it, and moving the road away from the node a bit. Sometimes hidden segments can be connected to a node that you can not easily see, even when zoomed in all the way, when they are underneath another road segment. Not sure that tip exists anywhere, but that problem drove me crazy in the past before I figured it out.

My home area is NW Ohio and while we have the Toledo metro area, and most highways in NW Ohio in excellent shape, the rural roads are another story. A few of us have been working on them, and like your “pig” roads, the base maps from the government showed virtually every driveway, and a node for every stream, culvert, and railway in site! Lots of clutter to delete. Many of the roads have wrong directions, and of course the intersections have many wrong turn restrictions.

So I know what you mean about a project. Good luck and check back when you need more unlocked!
