I downloaded the update yesterday and now it is not rerouting when I miss a turn, it just continues like I am following the planned route. Also, it doesn’t seem to have the mileage/next move on the nav map
HELP!
Click on the next turn instruction to get to the NAV list.
Because of phone GPS inaccuracies. When in navigation mode, the stick to road routines put a higher weight on the planned route. This means, that if the navigation told you to get off on a service road that parallels the highway, but you did not get off. That the accuracy might be within tolerances for it to think that you did.
If the deviations was clearly away from the route, you should get a recalculation (spinning icon in the middle of the screen).
One think to keep in mind, is that you need internet connectivity when this happens. I think, and don’t quote me on this because I think I experienced it once during the 3.2 beta, is that if it can’t recalculate, it will keep the previous route up, just to give you a visual clue of where the last route was.
The previous route will generally stay until the route is recalculated. If you don’t have a network connection the client can recalculate in many cases. If you have a weak network connection or the routing server doesn’t respond you will get a routing server timeout. Waze should make additional attempts to recalculate.
I’ve experienced the same problem twice today. This morning, I added a stop point on my way to work. I deviated from the route provided by Waze (Waze wanted me to turn left but I continued straight) and it never recalculated a new route. I turned left at the next intersection and then continued until I joined the Waze route. I didn’t give it much attention, since it was only a block and I though I may have lost the network connection. But then, on the way home, I had a similar issue, also after adding a stop point. That was a more significant deviation from the route and Waze just ignored it.
My experience above is not with stop points. I have no idea how Waze reacts when going off course with a stop point set.
I have tried it again this morning and it worked fine. It calculated a new route as soon as deviated from the original route, with or without a stop point.
