I assumed waze had got a bad address from google, but on investigation it doesn’t seem that way.
I tried it myself on waze web page live map, and it couldn’t find a Howdens Joinery in Stevenage;
I searched google, and it did find a location http://www.howdens.com/about-us/contact-your-local-depot/?p=Stevenage;
I searched for “howdens joinery” in the android app, found a match in Stevenage, and was shown the correct address, but the same (wrong) location as the reporter;
I entered the postcode from the google result, and waze then showed the correct location.
So it seems to me waze is making a bad job of interpreting the address from the google result. The address which the waze app showed me was truncated - I assume that’s just for display … or is the app using the truncated address and not seeing the postcode?
What should I do about that, and about the user report?
Waze doesn’t get addresses from google, it gets locations, and yes whilst the address in google is correct, the location is incorrect.
If you search google maps, you will see the correct address, but the pin is in the same place that the UR is.
There are two/three ways to correct this, report the issue to google using the the suggest a edit option on the address details button, wait 6 months or more and it might be fixed.
you can also log on to google map maker and move the marker, and assuming it gets approved, this will then correct the issue.
Lastly, you can add the business as a Landmark in waze, however depending on the business and size this sometimes can be against recommendation and due to the way waze search works, it doesn’t always work as waze can still return the google result.
