Variable speed signs/cameras on motorways

I’ve previously posted about these on the M25 (see http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=55&t=14983). We need to decide now best to proceed in the light of my recent findings. I take it the same process needs to be followed on the M42 and other places with variable speed signs/cameras.

Thoughts:

  1. Waze cannot tell at what speed the signs/cameras are currently set (though this could be something to explore for the future)

  2. Setting to no speed (as I think Bain suggested in the hope that they would show up but not register for warnings) doesn’t work, they trigger warnings at any speed (so no speed means 0).

  3. The cameras (at least on the SW quarter) are spaced very closely together, so any warnings are also regular (and annoying) particularly when set at no speed.

  4. Arguably, setting to 70 doesn’t add much information, some of the time it will be wrong and drivers should be sticking to 70 or below in any case

There are also the (unconfirmed) rumours of the M25 cameras being inoperative.

So I think the only answers are complete deletion or set back to 70.

Anyone else want to comment?

Since only Mr Grumpy has replied I will set the M25 speed cameras back to 70.
