I am just starting to focus on Waze map editing. In my area, I’ve found that several edits that I want to make are already in the editor as pending. Most of these edits have been pending for over a year and are in a locked status. Further, the edits are all marked with the note “Special permissions are needed to resolve this issue. Contact your area manager for more info.” These are simple edits like speed limit changes.
Is there anything that I can do to get these pending edits processed and then be active in the editing of my area?
Are the pending edits to road segments or to Places (venues)? I’m not seeing any pending review road segments at least but wanted to be sure I’m verifying. Are they also closer to a particular town/city there in Madison County?
Pardon, misinterpreted the ask. The way to make those changes is rack up editing around that area. In the instance of a road that’s locked you can request an unlock via the Discord Server we have set up for Plains (PLN) RegionWaze Plains Editors | Discord Me
Certain types of edits and approvals are set a particular lock level to help ensure map data is projected, but working with other editors you can help make those changes.
No problem. I appreciate your response. I am just getting started with Waze but have editing experience with TomTom. I am using it as much as I can on daily drives and hope to contribute more in Madison, Dallas and Polk county where I travel most weeks.
We can ultimately work with you on editing area (broader than just a radius out from where you drive to help expand what you can work on). There’s a lot of need in the rural areas where making sure roads are set to gravel (unpaved) and given a speed limit of 50mph (helps with ETA even if those routes are officially posted as 50mph). Lot of different areas though that can be leveraged to help you ramp up your editing level.
The “special permissions” thing is a bug. I know staff are actively working on it. I haven’t seen an update lately, not when I can get to a computer I’ll dig a bit deeper.
