On December 30 I reported a map issue. A favorite cafe of mine was in the wrong spot on the Waze map.
I finally received a reply today almost 6 weeks after my report. The report was from kazmuth and it said: “The Refinery” is not even on Waze yet.
I logged in to the Waze map editor in a web browser, located the current, incorrect location of The Refinery, clicked and dragged it to the correct location.
So it seems that it really is already on Waze. I hope my change is approved quickly.
Please bear in mind that the Waze map is maintained entirely by volunteer editors dedicating their personal time . So complaining about a slow response from editors may upset some people. It’s also worth bearing in mind the Waze app is free - so the help we can provide you is more than worth it!
You’ve already found the forums and the correct local forum, which is a good start. You’ve also made an edit to the map - which means you’re well on the way to being a Map Editor and eventually helping other new editors.
There is a sub-forum here for PH Unlock/Update requests. If you post a request there, including a Permalink for the new place, I’m sure a local editor will review it for you.
I came here to the Philippines from the U.S. I never had to wait more than a week for a response there and the responses were not incorrect and were much more helpful. If the local map editors needed more information then they asked for it. I was always happy to reply with whatever they needed to do their work. My reports were never dismissed with a statement like, " blah blah blah isn’t even on Waze yet."
If I’m doing volunteer work and I feel that some criticism isn’t justified. I don’t get upset. I quit.
I would also suggest that in this case, the map editors are not helping me. I already know the correct location of the cafe. I’m helping the editors to help other Wazers. This has take so long that I came to the conclusion that no one is interested in my reports so I stopped submitting them.
Timeliness is really important here. Without timely and accurate crowd-sourced information, and without timely processing of this information, the quality of the Waze service is degraded. I was following a Waze route this weekend and it led me to a street entirely closed off because of construction. I thought about reporting the closure but then it occurred to me that the construction would probably be finished before anyone got around to fixing the map. So why should I bother?
We understand your frustration about timeliness, but we the volunteer editors are really just overwhelmed with the number of reports coming in everyday. In Metro Manila alone we peaked at 42430 Wazers at one time imagine if all that are reporting just one report in a day.
While we have massive number of users editors are not that many. I say a safe estimate is just more or less 50 active editors.
So we really appreciate if you can help in fixing some issues yourself or just post it in our Waze PH FB Group. At least there, you can post issues that needs immediate attention and volunteer editors can easily interact with you if there are additional info needed. Thank you very much.
I would be more than happy to help fix issues myself in real-time. I’ll need some guidance though. The cafe location is a minor issue but it’s one that I could fix while having a cup of coffee onsite.
The road closure issue is much more important though. When I encounter something like that, I would be happy to survey to mark both endpoints of the closure and stop long enough to do the necessary work before resuming my drive.
I’ll need instructions on how to do that, though. From what I’ve seen of the map editing tutorials, being able to make edits is largely a permission issue. If you could point me in the right direction for how to work around that, I’ll take it from there.
I agree that road closure is very important.
For this reason Waze already added the option to report it from the map itself.
Just tap Reports
Then Tap Closure
Select the entrance to the road that needs to be closed
Then set other details
Then submit.
That would automatically be placed in the map.

For long term closure you can request here or better yet in our FB page.
