Washington DC HOV Restrictions

In DC, several roads have restrictions at different times to allow only high-occupancy vehicles to use them (during rush hour, etc.). Several times now, I have followed Waze’s directions to get into or out of town only to find myself far from major open highways and facing a ramp to a restricted road. The last time, I tried to find alternate routes and Waze couldn’t show me any – ridiculous in the DC area. Now I can’t trust Waze to choose a valid, much less good, route and have to remember to check the whole route before I commit to it. I have, by the way, missed one meeting and was late for a second because of this problem.

I like the app, but if I can’t count on it, it isn’t worth using at all. Can something be done? Thanks!

Waze has stated that they are working to accommodate HOV restrictions. However, at this time there is no way to avoid having waze route you on I-66 when the HOV restrictions are in place.
