I’m in Sterling, VA and I used Waze to navigate to a hospital. Now, there is no urgency here. But, I faced the following dilemma. The first hospital listed and suggested via Waze and 4square isn’t one. However, the interface does not provide a way to report that the erroneous information to 4square. Second, when I visit Foursquare.com and search for hospitals, the item is not listed. So, how do I report this VERY IMPORTANT ERROR as I wouldn’t want someone trying to get to a hospital that does not exist.
Here are the specific steps I followed:
At 45195 Business Ct, Sterling, VA 20166 I did the following
Started Waze
Selected Navigate
Clicked Categories
Selected Hospital
It briefly displays at the bottom that it is a 4Square result
The first item on the list is titled “Bathroom” in Ashburn, Virginia 1.9 mi. Away
Once you select it you have the following options:
More, Add, and Go as well as arrows to select another item
Info and Specials are grayed out so, I can not find anything about the location
When I select Go, it calculates the route
I tried to email the information using More-> Share location, but that only gives you a link back to the Waze app. What I’d really like to do is find out exactly where it is and report the problem to 4Square. But, I have no idea how to do so. So, without a physical address or coordinate it is difficult to assess without going there. Even if I go there, I can not report or correct this incorrect information. When I navigate via Google maps to the vicinty (i.e. Waxpool Rd at Broderick Dr), the bathroom or hospital exists. It’s just a forest of trees with a power lines passing through it. So, I can not use the report-> Map issue.
Finally, it would be nice if the software be updated to allow reporting of incorrect information via the Navigate by category menu. I would also be convenient to share the link without being forced back to the mobile app as I’m on my PC now and the location I shared can not be accessed.
You noted that in the bottom of the Navigation search results it stated it was a 4Square result. That means any location correction must be made via 4Square, Waze has no input on it, it merely bounced the info you submitted to 4Square and plotted the results from 4square. Thus this isn’t an issue for the update request forum. This forum is specifically to address issues with the Waze maps, not any location data provided by the services Waze has contracted with.
It shouldn’t be this way but the only real resolution for this is to somehow get the word out to wazers to not just rely on the first search result they get, but for important locations to check a couple other of the providers.
Though I should note that out of curiosity I just followed the same steps you gave to look for a hospital near me, in my case the first 4square result was correct, same for google and yelp the second result was correct. Bing had the right hospital but it was several items down the list, the first being an Ambulance service in a city about an hours drive away, and as to the hospital it’s location was off a block.

I wonder what forum would address such an issue.

It might be based on location. Were you in Sterling, VA?
>That means any location correction must be made via 4Square,
Yeah, I tried that but, I can not find the erroneous entry via 4Square. Oh Well.
Just a note, what I meant about searching near me, Is I tested it by looking for a category:Hospital near me, ie in Utah, just to see if perhaps this was a common problem with that category. My results had nothing to do with VA.
Oh and I still logged into my 4square account and filed a problem report with that location, everyone who has an account should do the same. Flood them with enough requests and they should fix it. Or a local can go to the site, check in and then be able to make the edit.
