Phone: Samsung S22+; OneUI 7.0; Android 15; as up to date as I can tell.
Waze: 5.10.0.2, unrestricted battery use; notification, etc, all allowed.
Connected to car with Android Auto, 14.7.652684 via USB
Car head unit: Porsche Classic PCCM+ unit. That, I am not able to modify.
Issue: the Waze notification sounds barely audible. Waze mutes music and other sounds, but volume just too low.
I have tried:
resetting the app
confirmed that Guidance Volume is maxed out
changing voices
switching from and to “play sound to phone speaker”
changing the volume on the head unit when direction is given. Unlike other cars, this does not modify Waze independently from music, causing ear splitting music when the focus shifts back to music from Waze
increasing the volume on the phone when direction is given.
adjusting all the volumes on the phone to max, including BT (even though connected through USB)
No avail. My phone works as intended on the Jeep, just not in the other car.
Please note there are two volume settings in Waze.
Anytime using that directions are not being stated
When directions are being stated. So when you hear the faint directions please try turning up the volume before the directions end. This might work best if you do it when just starting a route (and still not moving) when it gives the summary.
Understand that the 2nd setting is not very clear but you might have lowered while there was a turn being announced.
I am familiar with that technique, and it has not worked. I have tried repeatedly, always with the same result. I have tried many times on my way to work, I can tell when the music gets muted and the faint instructions start, and so I am ready to turn the volume up. Same result every time: yes, the instructions then are louder BUT as soon as the music turns back, the music volume is unbearable.
I am starting to suspect it’s the head unit that does not separate the two inputs.
I saw the same behavior recently, it was a startling change but I ignored it at the time. Now that you mention it, my S22 is doing the same thing and it isn’t my imagination. Production app.
I seem to have fixed the issue by deleting all caches, removing waze, rebooting the phone, and reinstalling waze. It appears all my saved places are lost in the process, Guess waze doesn’t save those to your profile…
