Shows, by default, entries “sorted by Authors” on “GOOGLE-CHROME”
(Version 36.0.1985.125) under (Ubuntu 14.04 64bits)
using an INCOGNITO WINDOW (to see what a non registered user would see):
Note: Sorted by “Author Ascending”
Shouldn’t it be defaulted to “Post time” for non registered users ???
Same behavior with “FIREFOX”
(Version: 31.0 Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0) under same (Ubuntu 14.04 64bits)
using an PRIVATE WINDOW (to see what a non registered user would see):
Note: Sorted by “Author Ascending”
Shouldn’t it be defaulted to “Post time” for non registered users ???
I agree, there’s no sense in sorting that way. Every other forum I’ve ever visited always sorts by most recent posts, regardless if you’re registered/logged into the forum.
This is sometimes an issue for me as well. When I get a Waze email saying “new post” with a link to a forum thread, I had better be logged in via the browser linked to my email client, or the link might take me to the boondocks of the thread and not anywhere near the new post. Grrr! I’d love to see this setting modified.
Thanks for tracking this down. I was just coming to this forum to report that the forums load all wonky when I’m not logged in, but I hadn’t noticed that it was because of the sort.
It’s even worse than I had first realized. Not only is sort by author default, but it you change it to sort by post date it changes back to sort by author every time you change forums or view a post. You have to manually change it every single time you click a link in a Waze forum.
Yep, been grousing about this for probably a year, maybe more. I think we just need to pin down a board moderator and ask them to flip the switch–from what I’ve read in trying to learn about the issue, there shouldn’t be any scripts involved.
