In most areas of Greece the use of waze is possible and there is a fairly good reception except in very remote locations or between rock canyons where the internet reception is less good. If you have an internet package connected to a good local provider, you will have no problem using Wise. Those who need to take into account another issue, we Israelis are addicted to Waiz, but the Greeks or many tourists from other countries, you may be surprised to know but do not know this application at all and therefore, there is not enough information about traffic congestion in Waiz, this is due to the fact that very few use the application and there is no streaming of information and information sharing as it exists in Israel. As a result, the times you will receive do not always correspond to the reality on the ground. If you need to choose a good internet provider to get coverage in most areas of Greece, the best choice would be Cosmote which is the strongest provider in regards to the internet in Greece, their coverage is very wide, and usually includes the remote islands and the mountainous north of Greece. Another option is Vodaphone, which has the second best coverage in Greece, although disconnections here and there must be taken into account, but overall it is a reliable and good company. The third provider is Wind, a little less powerful than the other two, but also a company with coverage in most areas of Greece. look in this link
One of the biggest problems of using Waiz is that the app doesn’t really know how to differentiate between a dangerous side road and a better way, all Waiz users may find themselves driving all kinds of roads that are not roads that “in Waiz’s opinion” shortened the time to reach the destination. Although on these winding roads, not only do you not drive at the speed that Wise calculated, but also in locations that the driver did not think he would drive, therefore using only Wise without understanding the area you are in may cause very unpleasant situations and unplanned adventures… Therefore, at least for those traveling in the north Mountainous Greece, it is advisable to go on a trip with enough information about northern Greece, with a written route or with good accompanying maps and not just rely on apps. Another problem that needs to be taken into account is in Greek cities, where the roads and paths within the cities are changed very frequently, Wise can tell you in many cases to turn right exactly where a week ago there was a no turning right sign and vice versa. Sometimes one such sign or one such miss costs another 10 or 20 minutes of driving, so take that into account. This, as mentioned, is due to the fact that Wise’s “social network” is not updated with new information due to poor use of this application by users in Greece. And if anyone from Wise’s team reads these lines, we are not against Wise, but you need to find a technological solution for this, we assume that not only in Greece, but all over the world, in Greece specifically this mostly happens in the northern and southern suburbs of Athens and also in Thessaloniki.
