I’m traveling to Argentina next week. Can anyone tell me what the situation is with Waze in Argentina? Is the database reasonably built out? Are the directions reliable?

As R_J07 said the maps in the country ar pretty good, including Mendoza. You may find though that the network coverage is spotty in rural and not so rural areas, so you may want to set your destinations as favorites and ask for a routes between the diferent points before you start the trip. That way the client will cache the necessary data… just in case.
