http://www.waze.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=276&t=50883&p=459721&hilit=same+name#p459721
i would like to suggest to add an extra address slot to add precision and solve some problems
the County
USA got a lot
3143 counties and county-equivalents
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_counties_and_county-equivalents
Canada got a few
289 counties and county-equivalents
http://www.statoids.com/yca.html
those counties dosen’t got 2 towns whit same names and area know by locals and could be used to search a place!
some are cities but thier’s neibourghood and burrows dosen’t got their city name whit in
and could solve this
http://www.waze.com/wiki/index.php?title=Fixing_“smudged”_cities
this might help everyone and solved some issues and could also apply in other countries as regional sub-divisions
Some cities make sense to have this subdivision (e.g. Montreal, Sherbrooke) – where both areas are known for that city name, but neither is entirely “official”.
With the boroughs (“arrondissements”) in place, the best way of describing this is (for example):
Sherbrooke (Jacques-Cartier)
Jacques-Cartier is the official city (borough) name and the differentiating factor between this and, say, a county / city level in Alberta, is that the borough has it’s own mayor and council (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boroughs_of_Sherbrooke ) – and those individuals form the municipal council.
That said, the area is known as Sherbrooke.
Conversely, these aren’t simple neighbourhoods. Garneau (Edmonton) – for example – doesn’t deserve mention, as it doesn’t have its own mayor and council.
by entering the county (sherbrooke) is a MRC in quebec that count as conty
so u dont need to put the sherbrooke(jacques-cartier)
same in montreal since montreal count as a county
as for edmonton (garneau) is not a town and cannot count whitin is county
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edmonton_Capital_Region#Edmonton_CMA
and whont get that benefit
I think we’re on the same page:
- the borough (e.g. Jacques-Cartier) needs to be identified
- but the area is known as Sherbrooke, so that needs to be identified as well.
Another example from Edmonton area is Nisku, which is in Leduc County. We don’t need to specify “Leduc County” in talking about Nisku, because it’s not relevant. Only “Nisku” is.
Again, these aren’t true counties like other provinces have – they’re Metropolitan Areas. Other regions (like, say, Vancouver) have a metropolitan area, but each individual component is known as the component, not the conglomerate.
the County can be a search related, but it dosen’t need to be in the actual address
but the conty defenition dosen’t fit whit all the division’s whitin canada
it may be use but dosen’t got mutch value for a sub-division on an actual map for the whole country
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Census_Metropolitan_Area#Census_metropolitan_areas
but i still think then a larger region could be use to split the map to not get city/village reddondance but their’s no such area’s that got enouf similarities or history value (past and futur) to be set like county’s in the USA whitin CANADA
thank’s for your time whitin this discution
