Waze's first meetup - in Paris

Hey Everyone,

As you probably know, things are looking great for Waze these days. We’re finally experiencing massive growth and along with that we’re also facing many issues and challenges - many of which you are experiencing first hand. Since you all are at the core of everything that’s going on within Waze, we thought it’s time to get together to discuss and update you about everything that’s happening on all fronts…from great things to look forward to all the way to existing problems and challenges.

So…we’re organizing the first ‘Waze Meet-up’ for our top contributors. It’ll be sort of a QA/Open discussion session with Ehud Shabtai, founder and CTO, along with Yael Elish, who heads Product & Marketing. More relevant key team members from Waze are likely to arrive, too, with the goal of us spending around 3-4 hours together with you.

In order to really be able to listen and discuss we would like to keep the format an initimate one - up to 25 people.

The first meeting will take place in Paris on November the 19th., starting around 1-2 pm and going into the early evening (no over night).

Since we know you’re not all based locally (Paris), and because it’s important for us that you come, we’ll cover the flight/train ticket expenses for those of you who are not local, for an amount of up to 300 Euro. Information about coordinating your travel will be sent later.

If you are interested to join us, ]here[/url].
[[Edit - 11/11/11 - link removed as the list is now closed]]

We don’t know how many of you will register, but if there’ll be more then 25 people, we’ll give preference to the top 25 conributors (based on number of points, map edits, drives, forum posts, length of time the users’s been with Waze, and proximity to Paris). But rest assured, if there’ll be high interest in an event like this, we’ll gladly organize more of these meetings so everyone gets a chance to participate…

Please note that this invitation extends to our EU wazers only, we’ll have another one in the US, sometime very soon…

If I fly over, will you still cover the 300 euro? I need a vacation…

Link not available :s

Deliberately disabled for folk that were chatting about it early!

It seems that we will get our chance in the US. Hopefully it will be on the West Coast. Maybe near the Waze US offices?

I had the same thought, and I’m totally not kidding. :stuck_out_tongue:

Oi…yanks… 'oppit!!

Ahhh, so you mean the problem is not the link, but I am? :frowning:

I know nothing about it

Do you already know where this meetup will be held in Paris ? I was checking the train schedules, and I need to know the time it takes between railroad station and the place where the meetup will be held.

The link works fine for me…

Yes the link works, but not if using Tapatalk on an iPhone. Safari can’t open it …

I’m in … who else from the UK is coming?

In the true spirit of Waze I would like to drive to Paris (think of the points!)

Obviously I can’t drive there and back in a day, but if I were pay my fuel and accommodation charges would Waze book and pay for a Eurotunnel ticket over the dates I specify? (Eurotunnel is a train after all!)

Ideally I’d like to be in Paris for a few days to look round (all at my expense apart from the Eurotunnel train ticket).

I am gutted beyond all belief.
I cannot get that day off work.
Was so looking forward to meeting up with everybody and putting faces to names and hearing from the top where we are going with Waze.
Barsteward barsteward!

Yeah I’m really struggling to make the Saturday too. Also wanted to make a few days of it! :frowning:

Time to book some tickets!

Although you may want to ensure you are one of the 25 that Waze selects before booking…

That is one possibility, or I can be optimistic and make a trip to PARIS(!) anyway. Life is too short.

We not know the details, but it will be public in the next days. Please, do not make a reservation until the waze hq not share the exact process of booking. You know, wazeis a company and thee aresome rules about the acceptabe bills etc…

From The Netherlands, train is about as fast as driving yourself (there is a high speed (300 kmh/200 mph) train, but before you are on it, the car is way ahead). Most Dutch wazers may travel by car…

What a great idea! I will avoid driving in Paris regardless of the abilities of Waze. I’ve seen the footage on Top Gear and it doesn’t look organised enough for my liking. Especially around L’arc de Triomphe

It’s a bit better/worse (delete as required) again today
