I have read the information in the Wazeopedia and would like to make a suggestion or propose a change related to the information contained in Level 1 Editor. Below I will detail my idea, error, or modification:

Dear editors,

We are the Traffic Control Room of the Mobility Department of the Palma City Council and we would like to actively collaborate with the Waze community. Our goal is to provide official and updated information that can improve the user experience in the city.

Among the data we can share are:

  • Street closures due to roadworks, paving, or lane occupancy.
  • Low Emission Zones (ZBE) and ACIRE access.
  • Information on regulated parking (ORA).
  • Real-time traffic status and relevant incidents.
  • Traffic light status, breakdowns, or diversions for events.

Currently, we manage more than 100 cameras distributed throughout the city and all this information is published on the official portal: [www.mobipalma.mobi]

Our intention is to actively input this data into the Waze platform to contribute to safer and more efficient mobility in Palma.

Therefore, we are requesting information on how we could access more complex edits, so that we can carry out these updates properly and in coordination with the editing community.

How to Share Your Information with Waze

We understand that you have different types of data, and each has its optimal channel. The main route for your collaboration is the Waze Partner Hub program with the :united_kingdom: “Map Tool”.

  1. Real-Time Traffic Data and Events (Traffic Status, Incidents, Roadworks…):

    • This type of dynamic information (accidents, incidents, closed lanes…) is injected directly into Waze through the Waze Partner Hub.
    • To get started, you can access the Waze Academy :link: :united_kingdom: Waze for Cities: First Steps! to see the first steps.
    • Inside the Partner Hub, in the :united_kingdom: “Resources” section, you will find plenty of documentation and videos about the platform, although most of the advanced material is in English.

  2. Street Closures due to Roadworks, Paving, or Lane Occupancy (Planned closures):

    • Unlike incidents, information regarding planned closures and detours is managed directly through the Waze Map Editor.
    • From here, you can also report special situations planned in advance, even if they are not closures as such, to alert drivers of possible issues due to roadworks or events in a specific area.

Cartography Management (LEZ and Parking)

  1. Low Emission Zones (ZBE) and ACIRE access:

    • These are permanent map elements. We ask that you send the full details to the Spanish Community Champs: detailed area of effect, vehicles allowed to access, application schedules, and other relevant characteristics. Once we have the official information, we will handle the implementation in the cartography.

  2. Information on regulated parking (ORA):

    • According to our community rules, we do not map parking spaces located along the roadside or streets (general ORA parking). We only consider those car parks/parking lots duly identified with the S-17 (P-parking) sign that accommodate an indeterminate number of vehicles. Therefore, general regulated parking (ORA) that is not in these locations is not included.

Our Coordination

Regarding your request for access to “more complex edits,” the main path is collaboration through the Partner Hub and the Map Editor, which give you control over the data you wish to share. For any questions that arise during these first steps, we, the Spanish Community Champs, are at your full disposal to help you coordinate this fantastic collaboration.
