We plan to remove the Scoreboard page

Hi,

About a year ago, we released the My Impact page.
That page was the first launch related to the new and exciting Gamification system!
Today, we’re here to share the next step:
We will be removing the Scoreboard page:Scoreboard.png

Why is the Scoreboard page being removed?
Both the achievements page and the leaderboards are maintained by old servers that will be taken down as part of the transition to the new Gamification system. The achievements page has become obsolete over time, with some of the achievements not even attainable. Also the formula for calculating points will change slightly, which will cause the existing leaderboard to display outdated values.

Will the Scoreboard page be replaced?
The new gamification system will NOT be based on the same type of scoreboard like we use today (which tracks the activity of all Waze users, summing their points for editing and in-app actions).
The plan is to create a new type of limited-time scoreboard experience:
These will be ad-hoc, “challenge” based scoreboards, which will only be live to support a specific effort, or “challenge”.
More on that to come!

Where will I be able to see my level and points until the new system is launched?
Through My Waze → My Impact.
It’s not there yet, it’ll show up there when the Scoreboard is removed.

When is this going to happen?
The timeline for removing the Scoreboard page isn’t finalized yet but it should happen during the first half of this year. Other parts of the new Gamification system will take longer to launch.

Thanks and have a great day,
Anat, on behalf of the Waze Communities team.

Hi,

Please note this will take place in the coming days:
We will remove the Scoreboard and its subset pages from the app.

Reminder:
Where will I see my points?
Through the My Waze Page.

Where will I see my level?
Through My Waze → Achievements.

Will the Scoreboard page be replaced?

  • The new gamification system will celebrate achievements differently, more about that in a few months.
  • As per Community request, we’re planning to host the current Scoreboard on a web-based page, not in the app. We’ll be able to share more about that at a later date.

Thanks!
