Website thought I was in Latin America, couldn't change it

Tonight I recovered my Waze ID, created a new password via SMS link and phone, and then logged into this forum on my laptop. Although I’m in North Carolina, the website behaved as if I were in Latin America. I entered waze.com and was sent to https://www.waze.com/?locale=es-419 and the page was delivered in Spanish.

Deleting the locale= parameter did not change the rendition.

Using the dropdown at the bottom of the page to English also did not change the rendition.

The only way I could get out of the loop was to close the tab and open a new one. There must have been a locale session cookie set, but I can’t imagine where the information came from. And the failure to honor the dropdown at the bottom of the page seems to be a real bug.

When I’m in the office or connected using the corporate vpn, waze.com is forcing latin american spanish, even if I try to select english. The isp is Verizon business and according to whatismyipaddress.com, the ip address is located in fort lauderdale. Is there a work-around for this?

I’m having this problem also, when I’m logged into my company network, which has an ip address in fort lauderdale.
