Welcome to the dedicated forum of Malta, Gozo and Comino.
This forum is under construction and will develop further when more editors become active in the community. Meanwhile, we have a special channel at Slack for discussions, questions and just to meet other Wazers globally: SlackInvite. Please register and join the channel #Malta.
Please try to make people aware of waze. I’m fed up of people on the radio trying to promote local apps which try to reinvent the wheel, with all respect. I mean, is that actually a paid advert or what? They don’t say that that app is sponsoring the traffic section of the programme.
As a UK tourist from late March 2017, I have spent a good part of the last couple of months updating the Malta, Gozo and Comino maps. (Not that much changes on Comino!)
My editing rights will expire soon, so I’m wondering where I need to go to apply to become an area manager?
An updated aerial view and / or street view would make it so much easier. Pity the street view is taking a while to go live.
I am a Level 2 editor currently working on the map in Ħal Qormi. I’ve noticed that while we use the English UK (including street names) TTS voice, the pronunciation of Maltese street names is often unrecognisable (e.g., “Triq” is not handled correctly, and “Vitorja” sounds distorted).
To avoid “hard-coding” phonetic spellings into individual Turn Instructions (which blocks future system improvements), I would like to propose a Global TTS Override list for Malta. This would allow the server to automatically map Maltese strings to phonetic strings that the English UK engine can pronounce accurately.
