West Midlands Editors - Call to Arms

Good work editors. The West Midlands is for the most part error free in navigation.

It is now time to get down to the finer details. We need to name roads and make sure all city names are correct.

What I suggest we do first is look at the West Midlands progress wiki page and strikethrough all towns that are completed.

If there is anything else you believe we need to do the post it here.

Carry on answering URs and adding petrol stations. Please sign in below so I know how many active editors we have.

I’m going to crack on with Wolverhampton and Dudley areas, really could do with a hand.

I did a lot in the Telford Shrewsbury area pre-basemap but not so much recently.
I still keep the A5 in order as I drive it several times each week.

Happy to pitch in when Lincolnshire is finished which is about 85% done.

I am pretty much done in Farnworth/Bolton. Happy to do some.

Is there anything in particular you want doing first?

Hi,

I have pretty much done “herefordshire” meaning a few towns inc hereford, leominster, bromyard.
I was last working on Malvern and that area but the images are diabolical.

But I get back to adding, correcting and updating in the area regularly.

Des. . .

I have almost completed south Wolverhampton, north and central Dudley.

North west Wolverhampton is almost completed and has been for a while, just need someone to check and strikethrough. North east is terrible, have added some URs.

South Dudley (Brierly Hill, Stourbride etc) needs some TLC.

My idea is to work in columns from north to south, Wolverhampton to Dudley, then move east to Sandwell from north to south again. Move to Birmingham, then east of Birmingham. Perhaps some might want to work east to west and we’ll meet in the middle.

Howdy,

Hoody here.

Walsall is looking good (in terms of street names), the areas need a bit of tidying up.

I’m working on the South Midlands at the moment.

Areas of focus at the moment:

Cradley Heath
Old Hill
Stourbridge
Rowley Regis
Quinton

Happy to meet you in the middle Simon.

Also havng trouble logging in to strike off a few place names.

L’il help for a retard.

(W Mids) is the correct one. Add it to the wiki, put “(W Mids)” next to the names listed.

Anyone know what is going on with the Pershore Road towards Selly Oak? URs saying road closed. Not sure which ones and how long for.

Surely Birmingham (and Wolverhampton) should not need a suffix?

No idea. I’ve noticed they are popping up quote often.

Anyone care to look at J7 of the M6. The routing is a bit screwed up, but haven’t quite managed to figure out why it’s sending people on the junction and not the flyover.

Birmingham nor Wolverhampton require a suffix as they are the largest places with the name. The largest settlement does not require a suffix.

Take Blackpool for example. There are two that I am aware of:

The seaside town Blackpool
and a small seaside village Blackpool (Devon)

Discussed in length at skyscrapercity http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=577824

Shameless plug.

How the hell do you update the wiki?

I cant log into it for some reason.

:?

You can’t log into wiki because you have underscore “_” in our username. You have to ask Waze to change your username but please expect you will get harsh as I got

If anyone was wondering I am still here, just a little busy right now.
