West Pennant Hills, New South Wales Unlock request

Hi Editors,

I would like to be able to edit the following segments.
Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Permalink: https://waze.com/en-GB/editor?env=row&lat=-33.73997&lon=151.03772&marker=true&zoomLevel=21&segments=236758873
Reason: The NSW Roads and Maritime Services state that drivers are allowed to cross a single or double line if the driver wants to enter or leave a property “by the shortest route”.
Unlock to level: 1

Thank you in advance,
Malcolm

Hi Malcolm, and thanks for posting this tricky one!

The road markings are ambiguous in the example you’ve posted. Screenshot below for context:

We’re only able to consider the interpretation of the road rules as supplied by government sources or websites in this case. I was able to find this website:

https://www.nsw.gov.au/driving-boating-and-transport/roads-safety-and-rules/road-lanes-lines-markings/road-lines-markings

To me, however, it does not look like one is leaving the road in this case, but instead turning onto another road, as opposed to leaving the road to a driveway of a private or commercial property.

I also looked through the NSW Legislation website (https://legislation.nsw.gov.au/view/html/inforce/2024-01-31/sl-2014-0758) but was unable to find a clear answer. If anyone else can find a clearer answer, please let me know.

Ultimately, I don’t know how this should be mapped. I will check with some other NSW editors for advice.

Hi Brendan,

The property which I am proposing to turn into is the Cumberland State Forest which is owned by Forestry Corporation of NSW. It is a commercial property and the (private) roads through it are closed and locked each evening. Refer to the screen shots showing the gates at the Castle Hill Road enterance and the Oratava Avenue enterance. Refer attached is the Cumberland State Forest brochure (page 6) for the Normal Gate Opening Times. There are currently Waze restrictions off Oratava Ave entrance. The Every Day Restriction 17:01-08:30 should be applied to the Castle Hill Rd enterance. I’m not sure if the files attached correctly?

Regards,
Malcolm

Hi Malcolm,

I’ve allowed right hand turns cross traffic from Castle Hill Rd.

I’ve removed the turn restrictions you mentioned and applied them to the segments within the forest. These are easier to see for editors, but will also apply to both entries. Please allow 48 hours before changes appear on the map.

Thanks,
